On behalf of Coastline’s board of directors, staff, and the older adults we serve, we would like to thank all of the generous Coastline supporters who donated to our March for Meals and spring appeal campaigns to help fund Coastline’s Elderly Nutrition Program.
Each meal we deliver to over 1,000 homebound older adults and serve at our congregate sites cost around $7.50 to produce and deliver. Although many older adults who receive meals are able to donate to help offset this cost, there are many who are not able to donate. Consequently, your donations are crucial in allowing us to continue providing this service at either a very low or no cost to older adults in need of a hot meal.
Like many nonprofits and businesses, Coastline has not been immune to the effects of the economy. The instability of the state and federal budgets leaves Coastline on unsteady ground because we rely on that money for the bulk of our programs. Our spring appeal was a first step in working toward acquiring resources in addition to the state and federal government to make Coastline more sustainable and stable, so we can ensure our services and programs continue to help older adults long into the future. And you all helped make this appeal a huge success.
We are lucky to live and work in a small, tight-knit community with extremely generous individuals like you, who value local organizations and want the highest quality of life for their aging family members, neighbors, and friends. You are all an integral part in helping Coastline provide that high quality of life.
